Schedule of current maintenance (Honda Civic 6)

The intervals for routine vehicle maintenance specified in this Section are designed for the independent performance of all necessary procedures by the vehicle owner. The duration of the intervals was determined based on the assumption of daily use of the vehicle. In order to constantly maintain the vehicle in peak condition, some of the procedures may be performed in a more intensive mode at the owner's request. The authors of this Manual are confident that maximum efficiency from the vehicle's power unit and other components and systems can only be achieved if the owner takes a conscientious attitude to the care of his vehicle. One should also not forget about the need to maintain the marketable appearance of the vehicle in case of its resale.

When operating the vehicle in very dusty areas, intense urban traffic (frequent short trips), and when frequently towing a trailer, the intervals between routine maintenance procedures should be reduced to a minimum if possible.

Maintenance of a new vehicle must be carried out at the branded service center of the sales representative of the vehicle manufacturer in order to avoid violating the manufacturer's warranty obligations.

Every 400 km (250 miles) or once a week (whichever comes first)

• Check the engine oil level (see Checking fluid levels (every 400 km or weekly)).
• Check the engine coolant level (see Checking fluid levels (every 400 km or weekly)).
• Check the windshield washer fluid level (see Checking fluid levels (every 400 km or weekly)).
• Check the brake fluid level (see Checking fluid levels (every 400 km or weekly)).
• Check the tire inflation pressure (see Checking the condition of the tires and their inflation pressure (every 400 km or weekly)).

Every 4800 km (3000 miles) or every 3 months (whichever comes first)

• Check the PAS fluid level (see Checking the power steering fluid level (every 4,800 km or once every three months)).
• Check the ATF level of the AT/CVT (see Checking the ATF level AT/CVT (every 4,800 km or once every three months)).
• Replace the engine oil and oil filter (see Changing engine oil and oil filter (every 4,800 km or once every three months)).

Every 12,000 km (7,500 miles) or every 6 months (whichever comes first)

In addition to the checks listed in the previous subsection:

• Check the condition of the windshield wipers and replace them if necessary (see Checking the condition and replacing the windshield wipers (every 12,000 km or once every 6 months)).
• Check the condition and maintain the battery (see Checking, servicing and charging the battery (every 12,000 km or once every 6 months)).
• Check the condition and tension of the drive belts and make adjustments if necessary (see Checking the condition, adjusting the tension force and replacing the drive belts, (every 12,000 km or once every 6 months)).
• Check the condition of all hoses located in the engine compartment and replace them if necessary (see Checking the condition and replacing the hoses located in the engine compartment (every 12,000 km or once every 6 months)).
• Check the proper functioning and condition of the cooling system components (see Checking the condition of the cooling system components (every 12,000 km or once every 6 months)).
• Rotate the wheels (see Wheel rotation (every 12,000 km or once every 6 months)).
• Check the condition of the front wheel brake pads (see Checking the brake system (every 12,000 km or once every 6 months)).

Every 25,000 km (15,000 miles) mileage or once every 12 months (whichever comes first)

• Check the correct operation and condition of the brake system components (see Checking the brake system (every 12,000 km or once every 6 months)).*
• Check the condition of the seat belts (see Checking the condition of seat belts (every 24,000 km or once every 12 months)).
• Adjust the valve clearances (see Checking and adjusting valve clearances (every 24,000 km or once every 12 months)).
• Replace the air filter (see Replacing the air cleaner filter element (every 24,000 km or every two years)).*
• Check the proper functioning and condition of the power supply system components (see Checking the condition of the power supply system components (every 24,000 km or once every 12 months)).
• Check the MTF level (see Checking the transmission oil level of the manual transmission (every 24,000 km or once every 12 months)).*
• Check the condition of the suspension and steering components, as well as the CV joint boots (see Inspection of suspension and steering components, checking the condition of the drive shaft protective covers).*
• Check the condition of the exhaust system components (see Checking the condition of the exhaust system components (every 9600 km or once every 6 months)).

Every 48,000 km (30,000 miles) mileage, or once every 24 months (whichever comes first)

In addition to the checks listed in the previous subsection:

• Replace the usual ones (non-platinum) spark plugs (see Checking the condition and replacing spark plugs).
• Check the condition of the high-voltage wires, cover and distributor rotor, replace if necessary (see Checking the condition and replacing spark plugs).
• Check the condition of the PCV valve and replace it if necessary (see Checking and replacing the Crankcase Controlled ventilation (PCV)valve (every 48,000 km or once every 24 months)).
• Replace the fuel filter (see Replacing the fuel filter (every 48,000 km or once every 24 months)).
• Check the idle speed and make adjustments if necessary (see Checking and adjusting idle speed (every 48,000 km or once every 24 months)).
• Perform maintenance (emptying, flushing and filling) cooling systems (see Cooling system maintenance (emptying, flushing and filling) (every 48,000 km or once every 24 months)).
• Replace the brake fluid (see Replacing brake fluid (every 48,000 km or once every 24 months)).
• Replace ATF AT/CVT (see Automatic Transmission Fluid Replacement (AT/CVT) (every 48,000 km or once every 24 months)).**
• Replace MTF (see Replacing manual transmission oil (every 48,000 km or once every 24 months)).

Every 60,000 km (40,000 miles) mileage or once every 32 months (whichever comes first)

In addition to the checks listed in the previous subsection:

• Replace platinum spark plugs (see Checking the condition and replacing the spark plug wires, cover and distributor rotor (every 48,000 km or once every 24 months)).

Every 145,000 km (90,000 miles) mileage or once every 72 months (whichever comes first)

• Replace the timing belt (see Engine Repair Without Removing It From The Car - Civic Models).

* When operating the vehicle under severe conditions, perform all procedures marked with an asterisk every 4800 km (3000 miles) or every 3 months (whichever comes first).

Note: The following operating conditions are considered stressful:

• The area is heavily dusty;
• Towing a trailer;
• Long engine idling/low speed driving;
• Low ambient temperatures (below 0°C) combined with short journeys (less than 6 km [4 miles]).

** When operating the vehicle in any of the conditions listed below, the procedures marked with two asterisks must be performed every 25,000 km (15,000 miles) (20,000 km [12,000 miles] for CVT-equipped models) mileage:
- Intense urban cycle with high ambient temperatures (over 32°C);
- Driving in hilly or mountainous areas.
