Honda Avancier

Honda Avancier — currently a mid-size crossover (SUV) by the Japanese automaker Honda. The first generation was produced from 1999 to 2003 and was a station wagon on a passenger car platform "Accord". In 2016, Guangqi Honda (a Chinese automaker) reused the name "Avancier" for its mid-size crossover in China, which is also based on the "Accord". The car is also called "Honda UR-V". The engine is located transversely in front. The drive is full or only on the front wheels.

First generation (2001−2008)

The first generation was released to fill the gap between the Odyssey minivan and the passenger sedan "Accord". The suspension is multi-link independent front and rear. The body was a 5-door station wagon, 4795 mm long, 1810 mm wide, 1545 mm high and with a curb weight of 1690 kg.

The engine was a petrol four-cylinder with a volume of 2.3 liters (2254 cm³, F23A, VTEC, 148 hp) and a six-cylinder V-shaped with a volume of 3.0 liters (2997 cm³, J30A1, VTEC, 215 hp). With the 2.3 liter engine there was a 4- speed automatic transmission, with the 3-liter engine there was a 5-speed automatic transmission.

The Avant can be equipped with intelligent cruise control, which uses radar to determine and maintain a safe distance from the car in front and is able to maintain its speed. The car also features a spacious and comfortable interior with dual-zone air conditioning with climate control, as well as a roomy trunk. The location of the gearshift knob on the dashboard, rather than between the seats, made it possible to walk between the rows inside the car.

Avancier production ceased in 2003 when Chord underwent a complete model change.

Second generation (2016−present)

The first prototype of the second generation "Avancier" was shown at the Shanghai International Auto Show in 2015 and debuted as "Concept D". In April 2016, the production model was shown at the Beijing International Auto Show, and then at the Chengdu Auto Show in September. Sales in China began in October 2016. The car is located above "CR-V" and "HR-V" and is currently sold as Honda's flagship SUV in China. The body is a five-door SUV with a length of 4816 mm, a width of 1942 mm and a height of 1669 mm. Production is only in China.

Two engines are installed, both petrol four-cylinder with a capacity of 1.5 liters (1498 cm³, L15B7, Earth Dreams, VTEC, Turbo, 190 hp) and 2.0 liters (1996 cm³, K20C3, Earth Dreams, VTEC, Turbo, 272 hp). A continuously variable transmission works with the 1.5-liter engine, and a 9-speed automatic transmission "ZF 9HP" works with the 2-liter engine.

Currently, the main competitors of the second generation Avancier are Buick Envision, Chevrolet Captiva, Ford Explorer, Ford Edge, Hyundai Santa Fe, Infiniti QX60, Kia Sorento, Mazda CX-7, Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan Murano, Toyota Highlander and Volkswagen Touareg.
