Honda Advance
Honda Avancier – currently a mid-size crossover (SUV) Japanese automaker «Honda». The first generation was produced from 1999 to 2003 and it was a station wagon on a passenger car platform «Accord». In 2016 the company «Guangqi Honda» (Chinese automaker) reused the name «Avancier» for its mid-size crossover in China, which is also based on «Accord». The car is also called «Honda UR-V». The engine is located in front transversely. The drive is full or only on the front wheels.
First generation (2001−2008)
The first generation was released in order to fill the niche between the minivan «Odyssey» and passenger sedan «Accord». Suspension multi-link independent front and rear. The body was a 5-door wagon with a length of 4795 mm, a width of 1810 mm, a height of 1545 mm and a curb weight of 1690 kg.
The engine was a 2.3-liter petrol four-cylinder (2254 cm3, F23A, VTEC, 148 hp) and a six-cylinder V-shaped volume of 3.0 liters (2997 cm3, J30A1, VTEC, 215 hp). With a 2.3 liter engine there was a 4-speed automatic transmission, with a 3-liter engine there was a 5-speed automatic transmission.
Avancer can be equipped with intelligent cruise control, which uses radar to determine and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front and is able to maintain its speed. Also, the car is distinguished by a spacious and comfortable interior with dual-zone air conditioning with climate control, as well as a spacious trunk. The location of the shift knob on the dashboard, and not between the seats, made it possible to pass between the rows inside the car.
Avancier production ceased by 2003 when Chord underwent a complete model change.
Second generation (2016-present)
First prototype of the second generation «Avancier» was showcased at the Shanghai International Auto Show in 2015 and debuted as «Concept D». In April 2016, the production model was shown at the Beijing International Auto Show, and then in September at the Chengdu Auto Show. Sales in China began in October 2016. The vehicle is located above «CR-V» And «HR-V» and currently marketed as a flagship SUV «Honda» in China. The body is only a five-door SUV with a length of 4816 mm, a width of 1942 mm and a height of 1669 mm. Production is only in China.
Two engines are installed, both petrol four-cylinders with a volume of 1.5 liters (1498 cm3, L15B7, Earth Dreams, VTEC, Turbo, 190 hp) and 2.0 liters (1996 cm3, K20C3, Earth Dreams, VTEC, Turbo, 272 hp). With a 1.5-liter engine, a continuously variable variator works, with a 2-liter engine, a 9-speed automatic transmission «ZF 9HP».
Currently, the main competitors of the second generation Avansir are the Buick Envision, Chevrolet Captiva, Ford Explorer, Ford Edge, Hyundai Santa Fe, Infiniti QX60, Kia Sorento, Mazda CX-7, Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan Murano, Toyota Highlander and Volkswagen Touareg.
