To complete the Honda Civic models under consideration, three engine versions are used. All versions are single overhead camshaft engines (SOHC). Each cylinder has 4 valves (16V).
The engines are equipped with one of two versions of the electronic system for adjusting the valve timing (VTEC). A more detailed description of the design and principle of operation of VTEC systems is devoted to VTEC Systems - General Information and Component Health Check.
The motors used have the following designations:
D16Y7 | 1.6 l, 16V, SOHC |
D16Y8 | 1.6 l, 16V, SOHC VTEC |
D16Y5 | 1.6 l, 16V, SOHC VTEC-E* |
* Symbol "E" Introduced by Honda for engines with improved recoil efficiency.
