2. Connect a manual tachometer according to the manufacturers instructions.
3. Set the parking brake and block the wheels. Make sure the transmission is in neutral (RKPP) or set to "R" (AT).
4. Start the engine and at 3000 rpm warm it up to normal operating temperature. As soon as the cooling fan turns on, reset the engine speed to idle.
5. All Integra models and all Civic models except 1996 and 1997 D16Y5. with CVT, D16Y8 from 1996 to 1998 with AT, all D16Y7 and D16Y5 1998 issue. with CVT follow these procedures:
- a) Stop the engine and disconnect the wiring from the idle speed control valve (IAC) (see chapter Power and exhaust systems). All 1998 Integra models and 1998 Civic models D16Y8 with manual transmission and D16Y5 with CVT. disconnect the solenoid valve purge coal adsorber;
- b) Start the engine and, with a slight depressing of the accelerator pedal, fix its revolutions at a value of 1000 per minute. Slowly release the pedal, dropping the speed to idle. Make sure that all electrical consumers are turned off and that the radiator fan and air conditioner are not operating;
- c) For Civic models, the idle speed should be in the range of 450±50 per minute, for all Integra models, except for the 1998 B18C5. - 480±50 per minute, for Integra B18C5 1998 issue. - 550±50 per minute;
A - Adjusting screw
IN - IAC valve connector (must be disconnected on most models) e) Stop the engine and connect the electrical wiring to the IAC and charcoal canister purge valves;
- d) If the idle speed needs to be adjusted, remove the cover and turn the adjusting screw to bring them back to normal (see accompanying illustration). Adjust in stages in increments of 1/4 turn of the screw;
- f) For ten seconds, remove the 7.5 A reverse lights fuse from the mounting block in the engine compartment - this will clear the ECM trouble code memory;
- g) Start the engine and wait about a minute for the idle speed to stabilize. Read the tachometer readings and compare them with the requirements Specifications or the values given on the VECI label (in case of discrepancy, preference should be given to the latter).
6. On the Civic models specified in paragraph 5, without disconnecting the IAC valve, perform the following procedures:
- a) Start the engine and wait about a minute for the idle speed to stabilize. Read the tachometer readings and compare them with the requirements Specifications or the values given on the VECI label (in case of discrepancy, preference should be given to the latter).
- b) If the idle speed needs to be adjusted, remove the cap and turn the adjusting screw to bring them back to normal. Adjust in stages in increments of 1/4 turn of the screw;
7. On all models, turn on the K / V and select the maximum speed mode for the operation of the heater fan. The engine speed must increase by 50÷100 per minute, otherwise there is a malfunction of the IAC valve or control system (see chapter Engine management systems).
