Examination
1. Preparation:
a) Jack up the front of the car and place it on stands.
b) Remove the front wheels.
2. Check the axial runout of the brake disc.
a) Secure the brake disc by installing washers (A) and tightening the wheel nuts (B).
b) Install the pointer indicator (C).

c) Rotate the brake disc and measure the axial runout of the disc at a distance of 10 mm from the edge of the brake disc.
Maximum axial runout - 0.1 mm
If the disc runout is not within the norm, check the preload of the hub bearing and the bearing itself. Adjust the preload if necessary.
If the preload and hub bearing are normal, replace the brake disc.
2. Check the thickness and uniformity of wear of the brake disc.
a) Clean the surface of the brake disc that contacts the brake pads.
b) Using a micrometer, measure the thickness of the brake disc at a distance of approximately 10 mm from the edge of the disc every 45°.
Nominal thickness - 21 mm
Minimum allowable thickness is 19 mm

c) Subtract the minimum measured value from the maximum.
Maximum measurement difference is 0.015 mm
If the brake disc is worn unevenly (the difference in measurements exceeds the maximum permissible value), sharpen or replace the brake disc.
If the brake disc thickness is less than the minimum allowable, replace the brake disc.
3. Check the thickness of the brake shoe linings.
a) Jack up the front of the car and place it on stands.
b) Remove the wheels.
c) Check the thickness of the brake shoe linings.
Standard thickness:
- 2WD models with engine - D15B 9mm
- 2WD models with engine - D17A
- and 4WD models - 10 mm
Minimum thickness - 1.6 mm
Inner brake shoe.
Outer brake shoe.
d) Replace the brake pads as a set (right and left side at the same time), if at least one of the pad linings has a minimum or lesser thickness.
Replacing brake pads
1. Loosen the brake hose mounting bolt (A).

2. Loosen the bolt (B) and lift the caliper (C) up.
3. Fix the position of the support.
4. Remove the brake pads (B) and linings (A).

5. Remove the retaining plate inserts (A).

6. Clean the caliper bracket (B) from dirt and foreign objects.
7. Apply grease to the surfaces (C) of the plate liner that contact the caliper bracket.
8. Apply special brake grease to the surfaces of the pads (B) and linings (A) as shown in the figure.

9. Install the brake pads and linings.
Note: The brake pad wear indicator on the inner pad should be at the bottom.
10. Press the piston into the caliper cylinder.

11. Lower the caliper into place and tighten the bolt.
Tightening torque: 23 Nm
12. Install the brake hose back into place.
13. Press the brake pedal several times to force the piston against the brake pad.
14. Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir and top up if necessary.
15. Check that there are no brake fluid leaks and that the brake hoses do not rub against other parts.
Support
Removal
1. Loosen the bypass bolt and disconnect the brake hose from the caliper. Remove the sealing washers.

2. Holding the guide pin with a wrench, unscrew the caliper mounting bolts.
3. Remove the brake caliper.
4. Remove the guide pins and dust boots.

Disassembly
1. Place a wooden block inside the caliper. To push the piston out, apply compressed air through the cylinder inlet.
Caution: To prevent the piston from unexpectedly jumping out of the cylinder, supply compressed air into the cylinder carefully.

2. Remove the dust boot and sealing cuff from the brake cylinder.

Assembly
1. Apply special silicone brake grease to the new sealing cup (A) and install the cup into the groove of the caliper cylinder (B) as shown in the figure.

2. Apply a special rubber-friendly lubricant to the new boot (C) and install it into the caliper cylinder (B) as shown in the figure.
3. Lubricate the inner surface of the brake cylinder with brake fluid and install the piston.
Note: The dust boot must fit into the piston groove.

Installation
1. Apply grease to the boot (B), guide pin (A) and caliper bore (C). Install the boot and guide pin.

2. Install the brake pads (the installation procedure is described in the subsection "Replacing the brake pads").
3. Install the brake caliper. Hold the guide pin with a wrench and tighten the bolts:
Tightening torque: 23 Nm

4. Connect the brake hose to the caliper (A), install the washers (B) and tighten the bypass bolt (C).
Tightening torque - 34 Nm
5. Bleed the brake system (see section "Bleeding the brake system").
