Checking and adjusting
Pedal height
1. Check the height of the brake pedal.
a) Turn the brake light switch (A) so that it does not touch the brake pedal.
b) Fold back the floor covering on the driver's side.
c) Measure the brake pedal height (B): the distance from the center of the pedal pad to the floor.
Brake pedal height:
- models with automatic transmission - 187.5 mm
- models with manual transmission - 184 mm
2. Adjust the height of the brake pedal if necessary.
a) Loosen the lock nut (A).
b) Rotate the rod (B) to adjust the height of the brake pedal.
c) Tighten the lock nut.
d) Press the brake light switch until it touches the brake pedal. Then turn the switch clockwise to lock it in place.
d) After adjustment, check the free travel of the brake pedal and the correct operation of the brake lights.
Free travel of the brake pedal
With the engine off, gently press the brake pedal until you feel resistance, measure the free travel of the pedal.
Pedal free travel - 1 - 5 mm
Brake pedal travel reserve
Start the engine and press the brake pedal with a force of 196 N. Make sure that the distance between the top surface of the pedal pad and the floor covering is within the standard.
Power reserve:
- models with manual transmission - more than 142 mm
- models with automatic transmission - more than 144 mm
If the distance is less than the norm, make sure there is no air in the brake system.
