Models with a carburetor
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
2. Remove the air filter (see Section 7).
3. Press a gas pedal and turn away a counternut to a flute on a cable casing.
Pic. 8.3 To remove the throttle control cable, press the link (A), loosen the adjusting locknut (IN) and roll it up until it exits the groove on the casing (WITH), bring the groove to the slot in the bracket and remove the cable
4. Release the cable (see fig. 8.3).
5. Disconnect the cable from the throttle linkage.
6. Disconnect the other end of the cable from the control pedal (work under the instrument panel).
7. Remove the cable from the support brackets on the camshaft cover and the clips connecting the throttle and transmission valve control cables (automatic transmission).
8. Rotate the plugs in the engine compartment wall 90°and pull the cable out from the engine side (when installing the cable, lubricate the plug to prevent leaks).
9. Installation is made in the return to removal order.
10. Cable adjustment.
- A) make sure the cable runs smoothly without binding;
- 6) start the engine and check the deflection of the cable at the throttle linkage.

It should be within 4-9 mm. Otherwise, loosen the locknut, turn the adjusting nut to obtain the desired deflection and tighten the locknut.
- V) after adjustment, make sure (here you need an assistant) in the free and full stroke of the throttle when you press the gas pedal and return it to the idle position when the pedal is released.
Fuel injected models
11. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
12. Remove the air pipe between the throttle body and the air filter (see Section 6).
13. Remove the throttle control cable (see fig. 8.3).
14. Rotate the throttle shaft to release the cable and disconnect it from the shaft.
15. Disconnect the cable from the throttle control pedal.
16. To remove the cable, turn the plug in the wall of the engine compartment by 90°. Pull the cable out from the engine side.
17. Installation is made in the return to removal order.
18. Cable adjustment:
- A) Shake cable to remove excess solid lubricant.
- b) Use the adjusting nut to set a distance of 9 mm between the groove on the cable and the bracket.
- V) Tighten the locknut and check for deflection near the throttle linkage. The deflection should be within 9-13 mm. Otherwise, adjust it.
- G) After adjusting with the help of an assistant, check the full opening of the throttle valve and its return to the idle position.
- d) If the vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission, adjust the transmission valve actuator cable (see Chapter 7B).
- e) If the vehicle is equipped with a cruise control ("Cruise control"), contact a service station to have it adjusted.
