Note: The data in this Section assumes that the fuel pressure in the system is normal (see Section 3).
Preliminary control
1. Check the ground wire connection to the intake manifold. Check the wire connections related to the fuel supply system. Loss of contacts and poor grounds are the cause of most fuel delivery problems.
2. Check the battery charge, the correct power supply of the sensors and the control unit: this is the basis for the accuracy of the system.
3. Check the air filter element (see chapter 1).
4. Check the integrity of the fuses, if they are intact, check the reliability of the contact of the ground wire of the fuel pump.
5. With multi-point injection, check for leaks in the intake tract, which could cause the mixture to become lean. Check the condition of the vacuum hoses.
6. For multi-point injection, remove the intake pipe from the throttle body, flush it from dirt and coke deposits.
7. With the engine running, lean a piece of wood against the injectors and listen to the clicking sound of their operation.
