2. Disconnect the throttle control cable from the throttle control lever.
3. Bend down the retaining clips of the retaining plate and unscrew the two 6 mm bolts securing it to the bracket.
4. Install and tighten the new retaining plate.
5. Adjust the bracket position by measuring the distance between the bracket on the cable housing side and the edge of the throttle control lever on the bracket side. Measure the distance between the same points when the cable passes through the bracket and the lever.
6. Tighten the two 6 mm bolts when the measured distance is 83.5 mm for 1984-89 Accord models, and 157 mm for Prelude models. The bolt tightening torque is 12 Nm.
When tightening the bolts, make sure that the control lever is not pulled towards the bracket.
7. Bend the retaining clips over the bolt heads, connect the throttle control cable and the negative battery cable.
