Control
Models up to 1988
1. The throttle position sensor is located on the throttle body. Disconnect the sensor electrical connector.
2. Measure the resistance between the black-brown and yellow-red contacts. Compare the data with the values given in the specification.
3. If the resistance differs from the given value, loosen the fixing screw and readjust the position of the sensor. Measure the resistance again (if the set screw is a shear head, see step 6). If the resistance value is not restored, replace the sensor.
Models since 1988
4. Checking the sensor and its circuits is carried out only at a service station.
Replacement
5. Disconnect the wires from the sensor.
6. Remove mounting bolts and holder. If shear head bolts are installed, drill a small hole in the center and remove the bolt with a thread extractor. The procedure is facilitated when the damper body is removed from the vehicle (see chapter 4).
7. Remove the sensor from the body.
8. Insert sensor (with new gasket) into the damper body, positioning the sensor shaft and the damper axis coaxially. On pre-1988 models, adjust the sensor by turning it against the throttle stroke and tighten the bolts gently but securely.
9. Checking the resistance of the sensor (see steps 1-3), by turning the sensor to obtain the required resistance (only for models up to 1988).
10. Tighten the bolts. If shear head bolts are used. tighten until it cuts.
11. Connect an electric socket.
