1. Loosen the wheel nuts, lift the car and place it on stands. Remove the wheels.

2. Remove the steering gear (see section 27).

3. Place the jack under the ball joint of the left torque arm (see fig. 2.2).

Caution: The jack must support the entire torsion bar load.


4. Disconnect the ball joint of the reaction arm from the steering knuckle (see section 7).

5. Lower the jack and release the torque arm from the load.

6. Repeat steps 3, 4, 5 for the right lever.

7. Remove the torsion bar tube retainer bolts from the rear ends of both torsion bars (see section 5).

8. Suspend the engine with an eyebolt or place a jack under the oil pan. Place a block of wood between the jack and the pan.

9. Remove the nuts and bolts securing the rear support of the power unit (see Chapter 7).

10. Place a jack under the center of the coupler and remove the fastener.

11. Lower the tie to the ground and remove it from under the vehicle.

12. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Tighten the fasteners with the force specified in specifications.
