Note. If you suspect any fuel pump malfunction, first of all, make sure it works. To do this, remove the fuel filler cap and listen: if the pump is running, you will hear a characteristic sound. The fuel pump must run for 2 seconds after the ignition is first turned on. If you do not hear the sound of the fuel pump, check the following:
1. Turn the ignition key to position «OFF».
2. Remove the relay/fuse box under the control panel, then remove the main relay 2 of the PGM-Fl (FUEL PUMP) And from the electrical relay / fuse box under the control panel.
3. Reinstall the relay/fuse box under the control panel.
4. Switch on the ignition by turning the key to position «ON» (II).
5. Measure the voltage between PGM-Fl main relay 2 4-pin connector terminal #3 «FUEL PUMP» (FUEL PUMP) And «weight» body.
Is there voltage in the battery?
- YES - Go to step 10.
- NO - Go to step 6.
6. Turn the ignition key to position «OFF».
7. Disconnect the 20P connector from the engine compartment fuse/relay box.

Repair open in the wires between the inertia switch and the under-dash fuse/relay box.
16. Turn the ignition key to position «OFF».
17. Connect terminal No. 4 of the 4-pin connector of the main relay 2 of the PGM-Fl module «FUEL PUMP» (FUEL PUMP) And «weight» body with a jumper wire.
18. Connect the HDS diagnostic system bypassing the SCS circuit.
19. Disconnect the 44P connector A of the ECM.
20. Check continuity between ECM connector terminal A15 and «weight» body.
Is the connection continuous?
- YES - go to step 21.
- NO - Repair open in the wire between PGM-Fl main relay 2 «FUEL PUMP» (FUEL PUMP) and the ECM (A15).
21. Remove the under-dash relay/fuse box, then reinstall PGM-FI Main Relay 2 (FUEL PUMP).
22. Reinstall the relay/fuse box under the control panel.
23. Connect terminal A6 of the connector from the ECM to «weight» body with a jumper wire.
24. Turn on the ignition by turning the key to position «ON» (II).
25. Measure the voltage between terminal A15 of the ECM connector and «weight» body.
Is there voltage in the battery?
- YES - go to step 26.
- NO - Replace PGM-FI Main Relay 2 (FUEL PUMP).
26. Turn the ignition key to position «OFF».
27. Reconnect the 44P connector A of the ECM.
28. Break the SCS circuit using the HDS diagnostic system.
29. Turn the ignition key to position «OFF».
30. Turn the ignition key to the ON position (II) and measure the voltage between terminal No. 10 of connector 34P of the under-dash relay/fuse box and «weight» body within 2 seconds.
Is there voltage in the battery?
- YES - Update the ECM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good ECM, then retest. If the problem persists with a known-good ECM, replace the original ECM, then go to step 31.
- NO - Replace under-dash relay/fuse box if necessary, then go to step 31.
31. Turn the ignition key to position «OFF».
