Attention. Before disconnecting and connecting the connector, turn the ignition key to the OFF position.
Turn the ignition key to the ON position (II) and make sure that within approx. 2 sec; the sound of a running pump is heard.
If no sound is heard, perform the following check.
1. Remove the inspection hole cover in the luggage compartment and disconnect the 5-pin (on 4WD models 4-pin) fuel pump connector. Make sure that after turning the ignition key to the ON position (II) for approx. 2 sec., battery voltage is applied between the contact with the yellow-green wire (+) and contact with the black wire.
If there is voltage, check for an open in the black wire connecting the fuel pump connector to «weight» G552, and if there is no open, replace the fuel pump.
If there is no voltage, check the PGM-Fi main relays and electrical wiring.
Checking the performance of the fuel pump
Attention. Observe fire safety regulations.
1. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position, disconnect the PGM-Fi main relay connector.
2. Connect a jumper between pin #4 and pin #5 of the 7-pin PGM-Fi main relay connector.
3. Depressurize the fuel tank by opening the fuel filler cap.
4. Disconnect the fuel return hose from the side of the pressure regulator and connect the same hose to the regulator.
5. Turn the ignition key to the ON position (II) and check fuel pump performance. If the pump is running, turn the ignition key to the OFF position, remove the fuel that has entered, turn the ignition key to the ON position again (II) and measure the amount of fuel delivered from the pump within 10 seconds.
Measurement is performed with the load disconnected (headlights, fan, radiator fan, air conditioner, etc.).
- Standard Performance (at 12V): 100 ml (see3)
If performance is poor or non-existent, perform the checks below and if there are no problems, replace the fuel pump.
- Breakage of e / wiring, poor-quality connection (see below).
- Fuel filter blockage.
- Pressure regulator failure (see above).
