Note. Read «Precautions for fuel system fuel line quick connectors» before working on fuel circuits and connections.
1. Relieve fuel pressure.
2. Check for dirt on fuel line quick connector A and clean if necessary.
3. Wrap a piece of cloth or paper towel around fuel line quick connector A. Hold connector A with one hand and squeeze locking tabs B with the other hand to release them from clamps C. Pull the connector and remove it.
Note. Be careful not to damage tube D or other parts. Don't use tools.
If the connector cannot be removed, hold down the release tabs and alternately move the connector back and forth until it can be easily removed.
Do not remove the retainer from the pipeline; if removed, the retainer must be replaced.
4. Check connection area A of piping B to ensure that there is no dirt or damage.
- If the connection is dirty, clean it with steam and dry it with compressed air.
- If the surface is rusty or damaged, replace the fuel filter or fuel rail.
5. To prevent damage or foreign objects from entering, cover the disconnected tubing connector and tubing ends with plastic plugs A.
Note. The retainer cannot be reused once removed from the tube.
Replace retainer when:
- replacement of the fuel distribution rail;
- replacement of the fuel line;
- replacement of the fuel pump;
- fuel filter replacement;
- replacement of the transmitting unit of the fuel level meter;
- if it was taken off the tube;
- if it is damaged.
