Replacement
Warning: Do not smoke when working on the fuel system. Keep open flames away from your work area. When replacing the fuel filter, keep a safe distance between the battery terminals and tools.
If the fuel pressure drops below the specification value, the fuel filter must be replaced:
- Engine D15Z6, D15Z7: 226-275 kPa (2.3-2.8 kgf/cm²)
- Engine D16Y7, D16Y6, D16Y5, D16Y8: 265-314 kPa (2.7-3.2 kgf/cm²)
- Engine B16A2, B16A4, B16A5, B16A6: 275-324 kPa (2.8-3.3 kgf/cm²)
(with the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose disconnected and pinched) after you have made sure that the fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator are OK.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the negative battery terminal.
2. Place a paper towel under and around the fuel filter.
3. Relieve the fuel pressure.
4. Remove the special bolt and fuel feed pipe from the fuel filter while supporting it with another wrench as shown.
5. Remove the fuel filter clamp and fuel filter.
6. When assembling, use new seals as shown.
Note: Thoroughly clean the sealed connections of the high pressure hoses before connecting.
