Description
The ventilation system (PCV) is designed to prevent crankcase gases from entering the atmosphere. The PCV valve contains a spring-loaded plunger. When the engine is started, the plunger in the PCV valve rises proportionally to the vacuum in the intake manifold and crankcase gases are directed directly to the intake manifold.

Inspection
1. Check for leaks or clogs in the PCV hoses and connections,
2. At idle, check for a clicking sound from the PCV valve when the hose between the PCV valve and the intake manifold is lightly pinched with your fingers.

If no clicking sound is heard, check the PCV valve gasket for cracking or damage. If the gasket is OK, replace the PCV valve and check again.
