Description
Ventilation system (PCV) designed to prevent crankcase gases from entering the atmosphere. The PCV valve contains a spring-loaded plunger. When the engine starts, the plunger in the PCV valve rises in proportion to the vacuum in the intake manifold and blow-by gases are directed directly to the intake manifold.
Inspection
1. Check whether the PCV hoses and connections are leaking or clogged,
2. At idle, check that a clicking sound is heard from the PCV valve when the hose between the PCV valve and the inlet manifold is lightly pinched with your fingers.
If you do not hear a clicking sound, check the PCV valve gasket for cracking or damage. If the gasket is good, replace the PCV valve and check again.
