Fuel filter — removal and installation (Honda CR-V 1)

It is recommended to change the fuel filter every 5 years or 192,000 km. The fuel pressure and condition of the filter hoses should be checked at least once a year or every 24,000 km. On all models except the V6 Odyssey, the filter is mounted on the engine compartment bulkhead. On V6 Odyssey models, the filter is located in the fuel tank and must be accessed by removing the fuel pump. The filter should be changed every time the pump is replaced, if the fuel pressure in the system drops below normal, or if there is severe corrosion on the filter or if the hoses are damaged.

CR-V and 4-cylinder Odyssey models

1. Disconnect the battery from ground.

2. Unscrew the cap of the tank neck.

3. Relieve the pressure in the system by releasing the nipple on the filter. Unscrew the fittings and disconnect the tubes from the filter.

4. Loosen the bolts and remove the filter.



5. When installing, replace the gaskets of the fittings. When finished, turn on the ignition several times without starting the engine (this will restore the fuel pressure).

V6 Odyssey

On these models, the fuel filter is mounted on the fuel pump and is changed only when the fuel pressure drops below 2.8-3.3 atm (with the vacuum hose on the pressure regulator disconnected and plugged) and with a known good fuel pump and regulator. The replacement procedure is no different from that discussed in Chapter 5 to remove the fuel pump.
