Description

Three-way catalytic converter (TWC) is used to convert hydrocarbons (HC), carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrogen oxide (NOx) in the exhaust gas into carbon dioxide (CO₂), nitrogen (N₂) and water vapor.

Inspection

If you suspect excessive back pressure (restriction) in the exhaust system, remove the converter from the vehicle and visually inspect the converter for clogging, melting, or cracking. Replace the converter if any visually inspectable parts are damaged or restricted.
