Attention: block plugs, if they fall into the cooling jacket, will be almost impossible to remove.
1. Remove all protruding parts from the block.
2. Drill small holes in the center of the plug and pull them out with an inertial puller.

3. From all attached surfaces, remove the remnants of gaskets and seals. Do not damage surfaces.
4. Remove the booster of main bearings and covers (or lid assembly) and remove the bearing shells. Mark the main bearing caps by number and installation direction.
5. Remove all screw plugs from the oil gallery. The plugs are quite tight, so they may have to be drilled out. When assembling, use new plugs.
6. If the engine is very dirty, find an opportunity to clean it with a steam cleaner.
7. Thoroughly clean all oil passages with running hot water, dry the block and lightly grease the welding surfaces.
8. Using taps, clean all threaded holes of deposits, corrosion, and lock adhesive residue. If compressed air is available, blow out all holes in the block. At the same time, flush and clean the threads of all bolts.
10. Establish covers of radical bearings and tighten bolts of fastening by hand.
11. Lubricate the block plugs with dried sealant and install them in the block. When installing the plugs, you can use both a special tool and suitable size sockets, as shown in the figure.
12. Lubricate the threaded plugs with non-drying sealant and install them in the oil gallery.
