Note: The crankshaft can only be removed from the engine outside the vehicle. The flywheel, rear oil seal housing, crankshaft pulley, drive belt and gear, pipe, piston group must also be removed.
1. Before removing the crankshaft, check the axial clearance using an indicator installed in line with the shaft.
2. Move the crankshaft back and set the dial indicator to zero. Then push the shaft forward until it stops and record the dial indicator reading. Compare the measurements with the specifications. If the axial clearance is greater than the allowable value, inspect the surfaces adjacent to the thrust bearing for wear. If wear is not noted, replace only the bearing.
3. Measurements in step 2 can also be carried out using flat feeler gauges.
