2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
3. Drain the liquid from the cooling system (see chapter 1).
4. Check for marks on all wires, control cables and tubes connecting the intake manifold to the car body.
5. On models with carburetors, remove the two bracket-to-manifold bolts and all manifold-to-head nuts. Remove the manifold.
Pic. 5.5 Assembling a typical intake manifold (carburetor models)
6. On models with petrol injection, a two-piece manifold is installed. Loosen the mounting bolts of parts A and B of the manifold, remove part B.
Pic. 5.6 Assembly of the intake manifold (petrol injection engines)
7. Turn away nuts of fastening of part A of a collector to a head of cylinders, remove part A.
8. Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the manifold (and its parts) and the cylinder head from the remnants of the old gasket. When installing a new manifold, all removable parts belonging to the manifold must be installed from the old manifold.
9. Use a new gasket when installing the manifold. Tighten the fastening nuts from the center to the periphery, the tightening torque is indicated in specifications to this chapter.
10. On models with gasoline injection, install part B of the manifold with a new gasket. Tighten the nuts from the center to the periphery with the torque specified in the specification.
11. Install the removed parts in the reverse order of removal. The tightening torques for threaded connections are specified in the specification.
12. Fill in coolant.
13. Start the engine and verify that there are no leaks and that the systems are working properly.
