Many engine repairs can be carried out directly on the vehicle. We recommend that you thoroughly clean the engine and engine compartment before starting repair work. Depending on the type of work, the engine compartment hood can be removed for easier access to the engine (see chapter 11).
Without removing the engine from the vehicle, you can repair various types of leaks, such as replacing the intake and exhaust manifold gaskets, camshaft cover gasket, oil pan gasket, crankshaft oil seals, cylinder head gasket, etc. External parts and assemblies, such as intake and exhaust manifolds, oil pan, oil pump, water pump, starter generator, ignition distributor, fuel system components can be removed from the engine for repair.
Since the cylinder head can be removed without dismantling the entire engine from the car, the gas distribution mechanism can also be repaired without unnecessary operations. The same applies to replacing the camshaft drive belt and the camshaft pulley.
