1. Drain the oil from the engine (see Chapter 1).

2. Set the piston of the first cylinder to TDC of the compression stroke (see Section 3).

3. Remove the cylinder head cover (see Section 4) and the top cover of the drive belt.

4. Remove the drive belt, crankshaft pulley and lower drive belt cover.

5. Remove the camshaft drive belt (see Section 7) and a toothed pulley of the shaft.

6. Remove the oil pan (see Section 13) and disconnect the oil pump inlet pipe assembly (it is secured with three bolts).

7. Unscrew the oil pump from the front of the block.

8. Remove the screws and remove the pump cover.

9. Measure the clearance between the inner and outer rotors using a feeler gauge. Compare the result with the specification.

10. Check the clearance between the rotors and the pump cover.

11. Check the clearance between the outer rotor and the pump body. Check that the inner and outer rotors are installed correctly: you should see one small dimple on each rotor.

12. If the gaps exceed the permissible values, replace the oil pump.

13. Install a new seal in the pump housing (until it stops in the limiting groove). Pack the pump cavities with grease. Apply sealant to the mounting screws and attach the pump cover. Tighten the screws to the torque specified in the specification.

1 - plug; 2 - washer; 3 - seal; 4 - spring; 5 - glass; 6 - cotter pin; 7 - pressure reducing valve; 8 - lid; 9 - outer rotor; 10 - inner rotor; 11 - rubber ring; 12 - body.

14. When installing the pump, use only a new gasket and rubber ring. The tightening torque of the mounting bolts is specified in the specification.

Note: To prevent leaks, lubricate the bolt threads with sealing paste.

15. When installing the oil pump inlet pipe, use only new gaskets and rubber rings.

16. Install the camshaft drive belt and everything else.

17. Check the oil level and top up if necessary. Start the engine and check for oil pressure and leaks.

18. Recheck the oil level after stopping the engine and waiting for 5 minutes.
