Fluid Recommendations
When added, only Honda steering fluid may be used.
Honda claims that fluids made for use in other makes of vehicles are not compatible with the Honda steering system. Using any other fluid will cause the seals to swell and leak.
Checking the tank level
The fluid level in the steering system should be checked every few weeks for signs of leakage or low levels. Fluid is not usually replaced. If it is necessary to drain the liquid during repair, it can be reused if it is not contaminated by the cause of a breakdown or by a dirty container.
The reservoir is located in front or on the left or right side of the engine compartment, just behind the headlight area. Check the level with a cold engine and level parking. The level is determined by the light and should be between the upper and lower marks. Do not overfill the tank.
