Removal and installation



Note: Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.


1. Remove the power steering motor (see section "Power steering motor").

2. Jack up the front of the car and place it on stands.

3. Remove the front wheels.

4. Remove the driver's airbag (see chapter "Supplementary Restraint System (SRS)").

5. Remove the steering wheel (see section "Steering wheel").

6. Remove the lower trim panel on the driver's side (see chapter "Body").

7. Loosen the bolts and disconnect the joint from the steering shaft.

8. Remove the cotter pin and unscrew the nut.

Tightening torque - 43 Nm

9. Using a special tool, disconnect the steering rod end from the steering knuckle.

10. (Models with continuously variable transmission (CVT)) Disconnect the CVT control cable (see chapter "Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)").



11. (Models with manual transmission) Remove the clutch fluid reservoir and reservoir bracket (see chapter "Clutch").

12. Loosen the bolt and remove the wiring harness bracket.

Tightening torque - 10 Nm

13. Loosen the bolt and disconnect the ground wire located on the bottom of the steering gear.

14. Loosen the steering gear mounting bolts and remove the washers.

Tightening torque - 61 Nm

15. Unscrew the nut and remove the washer.

16. Move the steering gear in the direction shown in the figure. Loosen the three bolts and remove the bracket.

Tightening torque: 29 Nm

17. Lower the steering gear and turn it so that the worm shaft is facing upward.
