Removal



Caution: Careless handling of the air bag may cause it to deploy unintentionally, which may cause serious injury. Before removing the air bag, read the "Operation and Maintenance Precautions" section in the "Supplemental Restraint System (SRS)" chapter.


1. Set the wheels to the straight ahead position.

2. Remove the driver's airbag (see chapter "Supplementary Restraint System (SRS)").

Disassembly and assembly



Disassemble and assemble the steering wheel using the assembly drawing "Steering wheel".

Installation



1. Make sure the wheels are set in the straight ahead position.

2. Install and adjust the spiral wire.

a) Install the spiral wire.

b) Turn the spiral wire clockwise until it stops.

c) Turn the spiral wire counterclockwise two turns.

d) Align the marks (B) on the spiral wire (A) and the steering column.

3. Turn the bushing (A) so that when installing, the protrusions (B) on the bushing align with the grooves (C) on the steering wheel hub.

4. Align the pins (D) with the holes (E) in the steering wheel and install the steering wheel.

5. Tighten the steering wheel mounting bolt.

Tightening torque - 39 Nm

6. Connect the horn connector.

7. Install the driver's airbag (see chapter "Supplementary Restraint System (SRS)").

8. Make sure that the horn and direction indicators are working properly.
