Attention:
- Mark the direction of rotation on the belt before removing it.
- Do not use the top cover and bottom cover to store removed parts.
- Clean the top cover and bottom cover before installation.
- Replace the camshaft seals and crankshaft seals if there is an oil leak.
Checking the timing belt
1. Remove the cylinder head cover.
2. Remove the top cover.
3. Check the timing belt for cracks and contamination with oil or liquid.
Note:
- Replace the belt if it is soaked in oil or liquid.
- To remove oil, use the solvent indicated on the belt.
4. After inspection, tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt Mcr. = 181 Nm.
Adjusting the timing belt tension
Attention. Adjust the timing belt tension only when the engine is cold.
Note. The spring-type tensioner automatically tensions the belt after the next adjustment. Always turn the crankshaft counterclockwise when viewed from the pulley side. Rotating it clockwise may result in incorrect belt tension adjustment.
Inspect the timing belt before adjusting belt tension.
1. Remove the cylinder head cover.
2. Remove the top cover
3. Turn the crankshaft five or six turns to install the belt.
4. Set piston No. 1 to TDC.
5. Loosen the adjusting bolt by turning it 180°.
6. Turn the crankshaft counterclockwise three teeth on the camshaft pulley.
7. Tighten the adjusting bolt.
8. After adjustment, re-tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt Mcr. = 181 Nm.
