Note: The valves must be adjusted when the cylinder head temperature is less than 38°C. After adjustment, tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt Mcr. =18 Nm (18.5 kgf·m).
1. Remove the cylinder head cover.
2. Remove the top cover.
3. Set piston No. 1 to TDC. Mark "UP" on the camshaft pulley should be at the top and the TDC marks should be aligned with the marks on the rear cover.
4. Adjust the valves on cylinder #1.
- Inlet: 0.18-0.22mm
- Graduation: 0.23-0.27mm
5. Loosen the locknut and turn the adjusting screw until the dipstick slides back and forth slightly "snacking".
Attention. Do not over-tighten the locknuts as the rocker arms are made of aluminum alloy.
6. Tighten the locknut and check the clearance again. Repeat adjustment if necessary.
7. Rotate the crankshaft 180°counterclockwise (camshaft pulley rotates 90°). Mark "UP" should be on the exhaust valve side. Adjust the valves on cylinder #3.
8. Turn the camshaft 180°counterclockwise to bring the 1X1e4 piston closer to TDC. Both TDC marks are visible again. Adjust the valves on cylinder #4.
9. Rotate the crankshaft 180°counterclockwise to bring the No. 2 piston closer to TDC, Mark "UP" should be on the side of the intake valves. Adjust the valves on cylinder #2.
