- The engine is warmed up to normal operating temperature.
- Air filter installed.
- All tubes and hoses of the air intake system are connected.
- All vacuum lines are connected.
- The fuel injection system wiring connectors are connected.
- All accessories are off.
- Automatic transmission selector in position "N".
1. Check the idle speed.
2. Turn the ignition key to position "OFF".
Using a special tool
3. Connect the special tool to the diagnostic socket.
A - DLC diagnostic connector,
B - special device,
C - jumper.
4. Bridge the leads "9" And "4" special devices.
Using a Honda tester
5. Connect the Honda tester to the diagnostic socket.
A - DLC diagnostic connector,
B - Honda tester.
6. Connect the strobe signal wire to the high voltage wire connector on the first cylinder ignition coil.
7. Aim the strobe towards the benchmark on the timing chain case. Check ignition timing with no load. Make sure the red mark on the pulley is aligned with the benchmark.
- Ignition timing - 7-9°to TDC
8. If the ignition timing does not correspond to the regulated one, update the unit software version or replace the control unit with a new one, recheck the ignition timing after a while.
9. Disconnect the tool or Honda tester.
