- The engine is warmed up to normal operating temperature.
- The air filter is installed.
- All air intake system tubes and hoses are connected.
- All vacuum lines are connected.
- The fuel injection system wiring connectors are connected.
- All additional equipment is turned off.
- Automatic transmission selector in position "N".
1. Check the idle speed.
2. Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position.
Using a special device
3. Connect the special tool to the diagnostic connector.
A - diagnostic connector DLC,
B - special device,
C - jumper.
4. Short-circuit terminals "9" and "4" of the special device.
Using the Honda tester
5. Connect the Honda tester to the diagnostic connector.
A - diagnostic connector DLC,
B - Honda tester.
6. Connect the strobe signal wire to the high-voltage wire connector of the ignition coil of the first cylinder.

7. Point the stroboscope toward the reference mark on the timing chain housing. Check the ignition timing angle with no load. Make sure the red mark on the pulley is aligned with the reference mark.
- Ignition advance angle - 7-9° before TDC

8. If the ignition timing angle does not correspond to the specified one, update the version of the unit software or replace the control unit with a new one and recheck the ignition timing angle after some time.
9. Disconnect the special tool or Honda tester.
