Examination
Attention: Do not smoke during the test. Keep open flames away from the workplace.
If you suspect a faulty fuel pump, you can check its operation. In the ignition position OM, you can hear a characteristic sound from the neck of the fuel tank when the cap is removed (listen at close range). The fuel pump must operate within two seconds after the ignition is turned on. If there is no characteristic sound, check the following:
1. Remove the seat cushion.
2. Remove the access hatch.
3. Disconnect the 2K connector from the pump.
Attention. Before disconnecting the wires, make sure the ignition is turned off (OFF).
4. Connect contacts No. 4 and No. 5 of the main injection system relay with a jumper.
Note: The inertial switch must be charged by pressing the button (models KG, KS, KE, KR).
5. Make sure that there is supply voltage at pin No. 1 of the connector (relative to the body) with the ignition on.
If supply voltage is present, check the ground connection to the fuel pump housing. If the connection is OK, replace the fuel pump. If there is no voltage, check the wiring.
Replacement
