Examination

Warning: Do not smoke during the test. Do not allow open flames in the work area.

If you suspect a faulty fuel pump, you can check its operation. In the ignition position OM, you can hear a characteristic sound from the fuel tank neck with the plug removed (listen at close range). The fuel pump should run for two seconds after the ignition is turned on. If there is no characteristic sound, check the following:

1. Remove the seat cushion.

2. Remove the access hatch.

3. Disconnect the 2K connector from the pump.

Caution: Before disconnecting the wires, make sure the ignition is turned OFF.

4. Connect contacts No.4 and No.5 of the main relay of the injection system with a jumper.

4. Connect contacts No.4 and No.5 of the main…

Note: The inertia switch must be reset by pressing the button (models KG, KS, KE, KR).

5. Make sure that there is power supply voltage at pin #1 of the connector (relative to the body) with the ignition on.

5. Make sure that there is power supply voltage…

If voltage is present, check the ground to the fuel pump housing. If the connection is OK, replace the fuel pump. If no voltage, check the wiring.
