Description
The main relay of the injection system consists of two independent relays. The relay is located on the passenger side of the hood. The first relay is triggered when the ignition is turned on and powers the electronic control unit, fuel injectors and the second relay. The second relay is activated after the ignition is turned on for 2 seconds and during engine operation, it powers the fuel pump.
Checking the relay
Note: If the vehicle starts moving and continues to move, the fuel injection main relay is OK.
1. Remove the main fuel injection system relay.
2. Connect 12V power to the relay contacts ("+" to contact #2 and to contact #1), then check the continuity between contacts #4 and #5 of the relay. If there is continuity, go to step 3.
If there is no continuity, replace the relay and recheck the system.
3. Connect 12V power to the relay contacts ("+" to contact #5 and to contact #3), then check the continuity between contacts #7 and #6 of the relay. If there is continuity, go to step 4.
If there is no continuity, replace the relay and recheck the system.
4. Connect 12V power to the relay contacts ("+" to contact No.6 and "-" to contact No. T), then check the conductivity between contacts No.5 and No.4 of the relay.
If there is conductivity, the relay is OK.
If there is no continuity, replace the relay and recheck the system.
