Examination
1. Remove the steering wheel trim with airbag (see chapter "Supplementary Restraint System (SRS)").
2. Disconnect the connector shown in the figure.

3. Check for conductivity between terminals #2 and #3 of the connector when the manual mode switch is pressed. Check for no conductivity between the above terminals when the switch is released.
4. If the conductivity does not meet the specified standard, disconnect the manual switch connector.

5. Check for continuity between the connector terminals when the manual shift switch is pressed. Check for no continuity between the above terminals when the switch is released. If the continuity is not normal, replace the manual shift switch.
If the continuity is normal, replace the wiring assembly with the upshift and downshift switches (see section "Step-up and step-down switches").
Replacement
1. Remove the steering wheel trim with airbag (see chapter "Supplementary Restraint System (SRS)").
2. Remove the steering wheel (see chapter "Steering").
3. Remove the plate (A).
4. Remove 3 screws (B) and remove the rear cover (C) of the steering wheel.

5. Disconnect the connector (D) of the manual shift switch.
6. Loosen the screws (E) and remove the upshift and downshift switches (F).
7. Remove the manual shift switch (G).
Note: Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
