Gear shifting is accomplished by engaging a specific combination of controls, which changes the output shaft speed.
Hydraulic part of the control system
The control system includes: a pump, hydraulic accumulators and couplings.
The main pressure in the system is created by the pump, it is regulated depending on the load and speed of the vehicle, and ensures the operation of the torque converter and locking clutches.
The shift valves control the flow of fluid that goes into the torque converter and transmission.
Electrical part of the control system
The electric control system for the automatic transmission provides extremely precise control of gear shifting and torque converter locking moments depending on the driving mode and engine operation. In addition, the use of the electric control system allows for a significant improvement in the quality of gear shifting.
The electrical part of the automatic transmission control system consists of three parts:
- a) Sensors that determine the vehicle's condition parameters and transmit this data to the electronic control unit.
- b) A control unit that determines the shift points and controls the torque converter lock-up clutch.
- c) The actuator, which consists of electromagnetic valves.
