Start inhibit switch (Honda Civic 7)

Examination

1. Remove the start inhibit switch cover and disconnect the connector from the start inhibit switch.



2. Check for continuity between the terminals indicated in the table below, with the selector in the corresponding positions.

Sedan

If the continuity is not as specified, adjust or replace the starter inhibit switch.

Replacement

1. Apply the parking brake.

2. Jack up the car and place it on stands.

3. Set the selector to the "N" position.

4. Loosen the bolts and remove the start inhibit switch cover.



5. Disconnect the start inhibit switch connector, loosen the bolts and remove the start inhibit switch.





6. Referring to the figure, set the shaft (A) of the start inhibit switch to the "N" position.



7. Rotate the housing (B) of the start inhibit switch (A), and insert the 2 mm thick feeler gauge (D) into the slots (C) of the start inhibit switch as shown in the figure.



8. Without removing the dipstick (B), install the start inhibit switch (A) on the shaft (B).





9. Tighten the starter inhibit switch bolts, then remove the probe and connect the connector.

Tightening torque - 12 Nm



10. Install the cover (A) and tighten the bolts.

Tightening torque - 12 Nm



11. Turn on the ignition and make sure that the "N" position indicator of the automatic transmission selector is lit. Move the selector to each position and make sure that the indicator readings correspond to the selector position.



12. Make sure that the engine can only be started with the selector lever in position "P" or "N".

13. Make sure that the reversing lights only come on when the selector lever is in the "R" position.
