Models L, L-4
Assignment of the various positions of the selector lever
Selector lever movement
Note:
- Accurately set the automatic transmission selector lever to the desired position.
- If, when moving from position P, first move the lever to the left side, and then press the brake pedal, the lever may not move to the desired position. You must first press the brake pedal, and then move the lever.
- If the ignition key is in the position «I» or «0», the lever does not move out of the P position, even with the brake pedal depressed.
L mode (downshift)
If you press the L mode switch when the automatic transmission selector lever is in the «2», the first gear will turn on and in the future, it will not switch (indicator on the instrument cluster lights up).
If you press the mode switch L again or remove the automatic transmission selector lever from the position «2», L mode is canceled (the indicator on the instrument cluster goes out).
Note: If the vehicle speed is above approx. 50 km/h, after pressing the mode switch L, there is no shifting from second to first.
Speed limits
To avoid exceeding critical engine speeds, do not drive faster than the speeds given in the table.
Caution: On slippery roads, wheel spin may occur as a result of heavy engine braking. To avoid this, watch your speed while downshifting.
Note:
- Observe the speed limit corresponding to each position of the automatic transmission selector lever.
- If, due to erroneous control, the engine develops critical speeds, the engine protection system and fuel supply are activated. is interrupted. In this case, a slight jolt is felt, which is not a malfunction.

Assignment of the various positions of the selector lever
Moving the automatic transmission selector lever
Accurately set the automatic transmission selector lever to the desired position.

If the selector lever is in the position «I» or «0», it does not move out of position P, even with the brake pedal depressed.
L mode (downshift)
If you press the mode switch L when the automatic transmission selector lever is in the «2», the first gear will be engaged and, in the future, it will not switch (the indicator on the instrument cluster lights up).
If you press the mode switch L again or move the automatic transmission selector lever from the position «2», L mode will turn off (the indicator on the instrument cluster goes out)... If the vehicle speed is above approx. 50 km/h, pressing the mode switch L does not switch from second to first.
SNOW mode
Models V-4
If the SNOW switch is pressed when the automatic transmission selector lever is in position D or D3, then the movement starts from the second gear (the indicator on the instrument cluster lights up). This mode makes it easier to start off on slippery roads.
If you press the switch again, the SNOW mode will turn off (the indicator on the instrument cluster goes out).

To avoid exceeding critical engine speeds, do not drive faster than the speeds given in the table.
