2. Start the engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature (the fan should turn on twice).
3. Stop the engine and connect the tachometer according to the manufacturer's instructions.
4. Apply the parking brake and block the wheels. Set the transmission to neutral.
Engines with carburetor
5. Disconnect the hose from the outlet air temperature control valve and plug it.
6. Start the engine and measure the idle speed. Compare them with the data given in the label under the hood. If necessary, adjust the engine speed with the quantity screw.

7. Stop the engine and connect the hose.
Fuel injected engines
8. On models from 1985 to 1987 release, disconnect the #10 vacuum hose connecting the idle air control solenoid (located at the back of the engine compartment) and intake manifold (see fig. 37.8a). On models since 1988, disconnect the 2P ECM sensor connector (see fig. 37.8b).

9. Start the engine and measure the shaft speed. Compare the data with the recommended ones. If adjustment is needed, turn the screw located on the throttle body.

10. Turn off the engine and disconnect the tachometer.
11. Connect hose or connector.
