Note: the main adjustment data is given in the plate under the engine hood.
1. To carry out the adjustment of the ignition timing, a stroboscope is needed.
2. On models of release 1986, 1987 disconnect hoses from the distributor and muffle them.
3. On 1988 and older models, wire the brown and green/white pins of the advance controller connector. On 1988 and 1989 models, the connector is located in the left rear corner of the engine compartment: you must remove the yellow rubber cap before connecting the wire. On 1990 models, the connector is located under the instrument panel on the right side.

4. With the ignition on, connect the stroboscope inductive sensor to the spark plug of the first cylinder, connect the stroboscope power according to the manufacturer's instructions (usually just connected to the battery).
5. The engine crankshaft pulley has four color marks corresponding to different ignition timings. The benchmark is located directly above the pulley.
6. Start the engine and aim the strobe at the marks.
7. Read the readings of the marks relative to the benchmark. If adjustment is required, loosen the adjusting screw and rotate the distributor. set the correct ignition timing.
8. Tighten the adjusting bolt and recheck the ignition setting.
9. Turn off the engine and disconnect the stroboscope.
10. Connect vacuum hoses or remove a wire.
