Note. Try not to move bracket A, located in front of the steering column, from its normal position. If the bracket is accidentally dislodged, replace the steering column assembly.
Withdrawal
1. Make sure the ignition is off, then disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
2. Remove the driver's airbag unit and steering wheel.
3. Remove the bottom cover of the panel of devices from outside the driver.
4. Remove the steering column covers.
5. Remove a casing And a steering hinge.
6. Release the steering wheel adjustment lever and set the steering column to its highest position, moving it away from you all the way.
7. Tighten the steering wheel adjustment lever.
8. Secure the lower sliding shaft A to the steering column with a piece of wire B between the hinge C of the lower sliding shaft and the hinge D of the upper shaft, thereby preventing its extension.
9. Release the steering wheel adjustment lever, move the steering wheel to the fully extended position and tighten the lever again.
Note. Do not release the steering wheel adjustment lever when removing the steering column from the frame.
10. Disconnect the harness connectors from the center switch assembly and rotary contactor A.
11. After removing the three screws B, remove the combination switch assembly from the steering column.
12. Disconnect the wiring harness from the ignition switch and disengage the clamps securing the wiring harness to the steering column.
13. Turn out a bolt With the hinge of a steering shaft and disconnect the hinge D from a gear shaft.
14. Remove the steering column E by disassembling the corresponding threaded connections. If the lower sliding roller F is removed, insert it into the upper roller G so that the stamped marks or the painted H marks coincide.
15. Remove the central guide I (if equipped) and throw it away. The center rail is for factory assembly only.
Installation
1. Follow the installation operations of the steering column in reverse of removal, and pay attention to the following things:
Make sure the wires are not pinched in any place.
Make sure that the sliding capsules do not fall out of place during the installation of the steering column.
2. Center the steering rack in the middle of its travel.
3. With the steering rack in the straight-ahead position, cut wire A and connect the lower end of the steering shaft pivot to the pinion shaft B as shown.
4. Align the hole A for the bolt on the hinge with the groove B on the gear shaft and loosely insert the bolt C of the hinge. Make sure the bolt fits into the groove on the gear shaft. Pull on the steering joint to make sure it is securely in place. Tighten the hinge bolt to the recommended torque.
5. Establish into place a casing And a steering hinge.
6. Install the steering wheel.
7. Establish casings of a steering column.
8. Establish the bottom cover of the panel of devices from outside the driver.
9. Connect «negative» wire to the battery.
Turn the ignition key to position «ON» (II). The SRS indicator should come on for about 6 seconds, then turn off.
Set the correct time on the clock.
Check cruise control system, audio remote control, navigation system (if available) and turning off the turn signal.
Make sure the steering wheel is properly centered.
