Removal and installation the steering column (Honda Fit 1)

Note:
  • Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
  • When removing and installing the steering column, refer to the corresponding assembly drawings.


1. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Remove the driver's airbag (see chapter "Supplementary Restraint System (SRS)").

3. Remove the steering wheel (see section "Steering wheel").

4. Remove the mudguard.

5. Remove the hinge cover (A).

1 - screw,
2 - combination switch,
3 - lower steering column cover,
4 - upper steering column cover,
5 - steering column,
6 - steering shaft joint,
7 - gasket.


6. Remove the upper and lower steering column covers.

7. Remove the three screws and remove the combination switch from the steering shaft.



8. Disconnect the connectors from the ignition switch.

10. Disconnect the joint from the steering shaft.

11. Loosen the bolts and remove the steering column.
