1. Start the engine and let it idle.
2. Attach a commercially available spring scale to the steering wheel. With the vehicle parked on a dry, clean surface and the engine idling, pull the scale as shown in the figure and read the scale readings as the wheels begin to rotate.

3. If the scales show no more than 29N, the power steering is OK. If more, check the steering rods, the adjustment of the guide rack, the EPS system.
