Note. This check must be carried out using the original tires and wheels and with the correct tire pressure.
1. Start the engine and let it idle.
2. Connect a commercially available spring scale to the steering wheel. With the vehicle parked on a dry, clean surface with the engine idling, pull the scale as shown in the illustration and read the scale as the wheels begin to spin.
3. If the balance does not exceed 29N, the hydraulic booster is in order. If more, check tie rods, rack guide adjustment, EPS system.
