2. At low ambient temperatures, turn off all auxiliary consumers of electrical energy to reduce the load on the battery.
3. Vehicles with a manual transmission with manual shift: Fully disengage the clutch by fully depressing the pedal and move the gear lever to neutral. Vehicles with automatic transmission (including stepless variator):
Check that the range selector lever is in the Park position (Parking). Step on the brake pedal.
4. Without pressing the accelerator pedal, turn the ignition key to position III (START - Starter) and turn on the starter. If the engine does not start immediately, continue cranking the crankshaft with the starter, but the duration of continuous engagement of the starter should not exceed 15 seconds. Before attempting to restart the engine, pause for at least 10 seconds to allow the starter motor to cool.
5. If the engine does not start when the starter is operated continuously for 15 seconds, or starts to run and immediately stops, try to start the engine (see operation 4), by depressing the accelerator pedal to half its full travel. After successfully starting the engine, release the accelerator pedal to avoid a sharp increase in the engine idling speed.
6. If the engine still cannot be started, fully depress the accelerator pedal and hold it down while the starter is operating. This will help remove excess fuel trapped in the intake manifold and engine cylinders. The duration of continuous operation of the starter, as in previous cases, should not exceed 15 seconds. If the engine does not start after the cylinders have been purged, try again to start the engine while partially depressing the accelerator pedal (see operation 5). After successfully starting the engine, release the accelerator pedal to avoid a sharp increase in the engine idling speed.
Features of starting the engine in cold weather in high altitude conditions (altitude over 2400 m)
When the ambient temperature is low, starting the engine is difficult. In high altitude conditions, where the air is highly discharged, starting the engine is further complicated.
When starting the engine:
1. Turn off all auxiliary consumers of electrical energy to reduce the load on the battery.
2. Press the accelerator pedal to half of its full travel and hold it in this position while the engine is cranked by the starter. The duration of continuous engagement of the starter should not exceed 15 seconds. After successfully starting the engine, gradually release the accelerator pedal, avoiding a significant increase in the engine idling speed.
3. If the engine does not start, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it depressed while the starter is operating. The duration of continuous operation of the starter, as in the previous case, should not exceed 15 seconds. If the engine still does not start, try again to start it while depressing the accelerator pedal partially (see operation 2).
If the ambient temperature is below zero or if the vehicle has not been used for several days, allow the engine to warm up for 3-4 minutes before driving.
