Installation

Engines A16A2, B16A4, B16A5, B16A6:

Note: Make sure you use the correct number guide bushing.

  • Piston pin bore diameter: 21 mm

Piston pin bore diameter: 21 mm

1. Install the piston pin as shown.

Other engines:

Installation is carried out in a similar manner.

Note: The arrow should point towards the engine drive belt and the connecting rod oil hole should point towards the rear of the engine.

  • Piston pin bore diameter: 19 mm

Piston pin bore diameter: 19 mm

Inspection

1. Measure the piston pin diameter.

Engines B16A2, B16A4, B16A5, B16A6:

Piston pin diameter:
  • Nominal value: 20.994-21.000 mm
  • Extended: 20.997-21.003 mm

Other engines:

Piston pin diameter:
  • Nominal value: 18.994-19.000 mm
  • Increased: 18,997-19,003

Note: All replacement piston pins are oversized.

2. The zero of the digital bore gauge indicator shows the nominal value of the piston pin diameter.

3. Measure the clearance between the piston and the piston pin.

Note: Check the piston for deformation or cracks.

If the piston pin clearance is greater than 0.024 mm, measure again using an oversize piston pin.

Clearance between piston and piston pin:
  • Nominal value: 0.010-0.022 mm

4. Check the difference between the piston pin diameter and the smaller diameter of the connecting rod.

Preload between connecting rod and piston pin:

Engines B16A2, B16A4, B16A5, B16A6:
  • Nominal value: 0.013-0.032 mm

Other engines:
  • Nominal value: 0.014-0.040 mm

Nominal value: 0.014-0.040 mm
