Contents: Piston diameter: ⇊ Clearance between cylinder and piston ⇊ Piston diameter of repair size ⇊
1. Check the piston for warping and cracks.
Note: If the cylinder is overbored, an oversize piston must be used.
2. Measure the piston diameter at a distance A from the bottom of the skirt.
Engines A16A2, B16A4, B16A5, B16A6
- Distance A: 15 mm
Other engines:
- Distance A: 5mm
Piston diameter:
Engines B16A2, B16A4, B16A5, B16A6:
- Nominal value: 80.960-80.990 mm
- Operating values: 80.970 mm
Other engines:
- Nominal value: 74.980-74.990 mm
- Operating values: 74.970 mm

3. Calculate the difference between the cylinder bore diameter and the piston diameter.
Clearance between cylinder and piston
- Nominal value: 0.010-0.040 mm
- Operating values: 0.05 mm

If the clearance is close to or exceeds operating values, inspect the piston and cylinder block for increased wear.
Piston diameter of repair size
Engines B16A2, B16A4, B16A5, B16A6:
- At 0.25mm magnification: 81.23-81.24mm
Other engines:
- At 0.25mm magnification: 75.23-75.24mm
- At 0.50mm magnification: 75.48-75.49mm
