2. Turn the crankshaft and align the white mark on the crankshaft pulley with the pointer on the lower cover.
3. Remove the cylinder head cover and top cover.
4. Remove the power steering pump drive belt. Air conditioning drive belt and alternator drive belt.
5. Remove the crankshaft pulley and remove the lower cover.
6. Remove the timing belt.
7. Remove the toothed pulley.
8. Remove the oil pan and oil pickup.
9. Remove the oil pump.

10. Remove the screws from the pump body, then separate the body and cover.
11. Check the radial clearance between the inner and outer rotor.
Nominal clearance:
- engines B16A2, B16A4, B16A5, B16A6: 0.04 - 0.16 mm
- except for engines B16A2, B16A4, B16A5, B16A6: 0.02 - 0.14 mm
Limit value: 0.20 mm

If the clearance between the inner and outer rotor exceeds the limit value, replace the inner and outer rotors.
12. Check the axial clearance between the rotors and the pump body.
Nominal value:
- engines B16A2, B16A4, B16A5, B16A6: 0.02 - 0.07 mm
- except engines B16A2, B16A4, B16A5, B16A6: 0.03 - 0.08 mm
Limit value: 0.15 mm

If the axial clearance exceeds the limit, replace the inner and outer rotors and/or the pump casing.
13. Check the radial clearance between the housing and the outer rotor.
Radial clearance:
Nominal value:
- engines B16A2, B16A4, B16A5, B16A6: 0.10 - 0.19 mm
- except for engines B16A2, B16A4, B16A5, B16A6: 0.10 - 0.18 mm
Limit value: 0.20 mm

If the radial clearance exceeds the limit, replace the inner and outer rotors and/or the pump casing.
14. Check both rotors and pump body for damage. Replace parts if necessary.
15. Remove the old oil pump seal.
16. Using the special tool, carefully install the new oil seal until the top edge of the special tool is flush with the pump surface.
Note: The oil seal can be replaced without removing the oil pump.

17. Assemble the oil pump, applying sealant to the threads of the pump housing bolts*
18. Check that the oil pump rotors rotate freely.
19. Apply a light coat of oil to the seal lip,
20. Install the two dowel pins and new O-ring onto the oil pump.
21. Apply sealant to the contact surface of the cylinder block and oil pump.
Attention:
- Use sealant No.0Y740-99986 or 08C70-X0134S.
- Make sure the contact surfaces are clean and dry before applying the sealant. Apply the sealant evenly.
- To prevent oil leakage, apply sealant to the internal threads of the bolt holes. Install within five minutes after applying the sealant
- Otherwise, the sealant must be removed, the surface cleaned and a new coat of sealant applied.
- After assembly, wait at least 20 minutes before filling the engine with oil.
