1. Check the idle speed and, if it is not within the norm, make adjustments (see chapter Engine Management System).
2. Close the SCS contacts of the diagnostic connector (see chapter Engine Management System).
3. Connect the strobe light to the high voltage cable of cylinder No.1.

4. Point the stroboscope at the crankshaft pulley and at idle speed, make sure that the ignition timing mark (red) is aligned with the timing indicator.
- Ignition timing angle: 12° ±2° from TDC (at idle speed) (Automatic transmission selector lever in position N or P)
5. If the advance angle is not within the standard, replace the PGM-Fi control unit and recheck.

6. Remove the diagnostic connector terminal box.
