1. Apply the parking brake.
2. At low ambient temperatures, turn off all auxiliary consumers of electrical energy to reduce the load on the battery.
3. Depress the clutch pedal to the stop and switch the gear lever to neutral position.
4. Turn the ignition key to position «ON» (II).
5. Without pressing the accelerator pedal, press the button «ENGINE START» («Engine start») to turn on the starter. If the engine does not start immediately, continue cranking the crankshaft with the starter, but no longer than 15 seconds. Before attempting to start the engine again, pause for at least 10 seconds to allow the electric starter to cool.
Attention! The car has an immobilizer that prevents thieves from starting the engine. If you try to use a key with the wrong code or other device to start the engine, the engine's fuel system stops working.
6. If the engine fails to start when the starter is operated continuously for 15 seconds, or if the engine starts and stops immediately, try starting the engine again (see operation 5), by depressing the accelerator pedal to half its full travel. After successfully starting the engine, release the accelerator pedal to avoid a sharp increase in the engine idling speed.
7. If the engine still cannot be started, fully depress the accelerator pedal and hold it depressed while the starter is operating. This will help remove excess fuel trapped in the intake manifold and engine cylinders. If the engine still does not start, try again to start it while depressing the accelerator pedal partially (see operation 6).
Attention! When the ambient temperature is low, starting the engine is difficult. In high altitude conditions (at an altitude above sea level of more than 2400 m), where the air is very rarefied, starting the engine is even more complicated.
If the outside temperature is below freezing, or if the vehicle has not been driven for several days, allow the engine to warm up for a few minutes before driving.
