1. Apply the parking brake.
2. Turn off all auxiliary consumers of electrical energy to reduce the load on the battery.
3. Depress the clutch pedal to the stop and switch the gear lever to neutral position.
4. Turn the ignition key to position «ON» (II). Wait for the glow plug indicator to turn off.
5. Without pressing the accelerator pedal, press the button «ENGINE START» («Engine start») to turn on the starter. If the engine does not start immediately, continue to crank the crankshaft with the starter, but not longer than 15 seconds (20 seconds in cold weather). Before attempting to restart the engine, pause for at least 20 seconds to allow the electric starter to cool.
Attention! The car has an immobilizer that prevents thieves from starting the engine. If you try to use a key with the wrong code or other device to start the engine, the engine's fuel system stops working.
Features of starting a diesel engine in cold weather
In very cold weather, the battery charge and engine oil pressure warning lights turn off after a few seconds. During this time, the start of the engine is delayed.
Engine warm-up
In order to save fuel, it is recommended to start driving immediately, however, remembering that sudden acceleration or a heavy load on the engine can damage it if it is not warmed up to operating temperature.
Attention! The engine should not exceed high idle until the low engine oil warning light goes out. This is necessary for high-quality lubrication of the bearings of the engine and turbocharger before the engine picks up normal speed.
