Withdrawal
1. Remove the timing belt (see Removing, checking the condition and installing the gas distribution belt and timing gears).
2. Remove the engine oil pan (see Removal and installation of the pallet crankcase of the engine).
3. Disconnect the oil pickup assembly with strainer and tube from the main bearing cap bridge and pump housing.
4. Turn out fixing bolts and remove the oil pump from the engine (see accompanying illustration).
5. Remove the fixing screws and remove the cover from the pump (see accompanying illustration).
Note. In order not to tear off the slots in the heads of the fixing screws, it is better to loosen them with an impact screwdriver.
Examination
1. Measure the operating clearances of the pump gears (see illustrations 1a, 1b, 1c). Compare measurement results with requirements Specifications. If the gaps are out of tolerance, replace the pump.
2. Unscrew the plug of the pressure reducing valve and remove the spring and valve plunger from the socket in the pump housing. Check the spring for deformation, and the plunger for scratches and burrs. Defective components must be replaced.
3. Install the gears in the pump housing and fill the spaces between the teeth with petroleum jelly.
4. Lubricate the screws securing the pump cover with anti-seize sealant. Install the cover, screw in the screws and tighten them to the required torque. Install the pressure relief valve plunger and spring into the pump housing. After replacing the sealing washer, screw in the plug and tighten it firmly.
Installation
1. Lightly lubricate the mating surface of the pump housing with an anaerobic sealant and the new O-ring inserted into the groove in the housing. Install the pump on the block and tighten the mounting bolts to the required force.
2. Replace the oil pickup assembly by tightening the mounting bolts to the correct torque (don't forget to replace the gaskets).
3. Install the oil pan (see Removal and installation of the pallet crankcase of the engine).
4. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of dismantling. In conclusion, do not forget to fill the engine with engine oil and fill the cooling system (see chapter Current service).
5. Start the engine and check for signs of leaks.
