Replacing broken valve springs and defective valve stem seals on VTEC models requires first removing the cylinder head. Remove the camshafts and cylinder head, then refer to Parts General and major engine repairs of this Chapter and, acting in accordance with the instructions given in the relevant Section, remove the valves, valve springs and valve stem seals.
On models not equipped with the VTEC system, the replacement of the components in question is carried out without dismantling the head.
