  • Do not shift the lever while increasing engine speed.
  • Make sure to remove the pressure gauge before attempting the no-run test.

1. Apply the parking brake and block the front wheels.

2. Connect the tachometer to the engine and start the engine.

3. Make sure the A/C switch is off.

4. After the engine has warmed up to normal operating temperature (radiator fan is on), switch to position [2].

5. Fully depress the brake pedal and accelerate the engine for 6 to 8 seconds with the throttle fully open, note the maximum engine speed.

6. Allow 2 minutes to cool, then repeat the test in [D4J] and [R] positions.

Note:
  • Testing without moving the vehicle should be performed for diagnostic purposes only.
  • The engine speed without movement should be the same in the [D4], [2] and [R] positions.
  • Position [1] is added to 7-position transmission.
